This is a photo of my mother in law. Death caught up with her on February 26, 2010. This photo was taken approximately two years before her death. As you can tell, she was full of life.

Introduction

I went to two funerals in three days it seems like death is taking over. The second I went to the Lord showed me something. When a seed is planted, the outer part of it is dead and the shell must be removed before the life that is inside it can come through. When person who is in the grace of God dies, they don't die completely. Only the outer shell dies so the life that is inside can come through. The inside person will never die like the outside person.

I had a dream a few years ago. A lady in the community where I live, died. When I heard she died I asked around to make sure. I was told that she didn't die, she only changed address. That lady is pretty sick right now and will soon pass away from what I hear but she will only pass from this life to the next.

From the moment of conception, death stalks like a ravenous wolf. It wants to destroy and kill. Eventually, death will catch up to all of us. The Bible says it is appointed unto men once to die. This is an appointment that we can't get excused from. It will take place for all of us.

Death came calling in Egypt one night. God sent word that whoever had the blood of a first born lamb on their door posts and lintels, that death would pass over them. The first born of all in Egypt who didn't have the blood applied were visited by death. Death had caught up to them even some in their youth.

God gave the Pharaoh time to repent but Pharaoh refused. He failed to heed the warnings that were given to him. None of us know when death will come. We must be prepared to meet it because it can come at any time. Death does not care how old or young you are. It wants to devour and that is all it wants to do.

This poem has three line stanzas with the first two lines of each stanza rhyming. The last line of each stanza rhyme with one another. I am not sure if this is a known form of poetry or not. This is just how it came out when I wrote it. I hope you enjoy it very much.

The final breath was taken

That day our world was shaken

Is this the end of all things?

The covering remained still

And there was an intense chill

What will the next moment bring?

Will this be the end of life?

Our suffering turned to strife?

Our day spent in great weeping

The shell spreads the soul departs

We feel a heat in our hearts

As if we hear angels sing

A flower blooms deep red hues

Fabricated to amuse

Like a fresh life in the spring

For those covered by the blood

Grace moves in like a flood

Death is now a beginning.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Hello ThoughtSandwiches. I am glad for the feed also. It helps me keep track of what is going on and who is writing. I feel I have already won, not so much chosen to win the contest but traffic has picked up. I have also been able to read some awesome poetry written by others. That makes me a winner. :)

Thanks for the read and comment.

SirDent, This is a beautiful poem. I was raised that if you believe in God, there is a much better place that we are going to when we die. Like you said, we all must face death, I for one have no fear of dieing because I know I have a home with the ones that have gone on before me. Thank you for sharing this with us and good luck in the contest!

Hello Naomi, unlike you you, I was not raised to believe in God. I was raised to be a heathen. Jesus called me out of the heathen lifestyle when I was 36 years old. Now I know what I missed along my life's journey. He prepared a place for me and for all who want to go to Him.

Thank you for the read and encouraging comment.

SirDent,

You're keeping things right on target. I enjoyed the introduction as much as the poem.

Thanks you lifegate. Even though the poem is what gets judged in the contest, I like for everything to tie in together.
