In the Beginning, God
76Introduction
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Many have stated that the first thing God created was the heaven and the earth. The fact is that the beginning was created by God first. Beginning means time starts. I am going to attempt to put to rest many of the things people say and state as facts that are not quite right. I only ask that you bear with me as you read this hub.
There will be a lot of speculation in this hub. It might be 100% correct, but at the same time much of it can be false. It is merely my musings although it will be defined with scriptures as well as I am able to do so.
Who but God
The Fall of Satan
Luk 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Jesus saw Satan fall. How could Jesus have seen him fall if He had not been born yet? This is a question I will answer during the course of this hub. To fall as lightning falls means Satan fell really hard and fast. When he hit the ground, he hit it very hard.
Some scientists believe an asteroid hit the Earth millions of years ago and caused the ice age. According to what Jesus said, it was Satan that hit the earth, not an asteroid. Of course, Jesus was not born yet so how could He know?
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
Now the word Lucifer is actually a Greek word. I am not going to expound on this very much because it would take a whole new hub to do so but I will expound a little on it. The original word for Lucifer is : הילל - hêylêl; hay-lale'(Strongs concordance 1966). The definition is: From H1984 (in the sense of brightness); the morning star: - lucifer. Notice how the word originated from another word. Strongs concordance 1984: הלל - hâlal: haw-lal'. A primitive root; to be clear (originally of sound, but usually of color); to shine; hence to make a show; to boast; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish; to rave; causatively to celebrate; also to stultify: - (make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool (-ish, -ly), glory, give [light], be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, [sing, be worthy of] praise, rage, renowned, shine.
One can conclude from the definitions that Satan was a shining and colorful angel who boasted, made a show, and sang praises. If we read the rest of Isaiah Chapter 14 we will read how Lucifer said he would set his throne above the throne of God making himself higher that God. Big boasts for a created creature to make against his own creator. That is enough for now on the subject of the Greek word Lucifer.
Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
Let's look at the word "replenish" in the Hebrew. This one word is very significant in this passage of scripture.
H4390
מלא מלא
mâlê' mâlâ'
maw-lay', maw-law'
This word when translated properly has different meanings, as do most words, especially when translated. The definition means; to fill, be full of, accomplish, replenish, to have wholly. There are other meanings but they are very similar to what I wrote so they are not required to list.
One point to make is how can the Earth be replenished if there was nothing here to start with. There had to be something in order for God to command man to replenish the Earth. I am moving back and forth through scriptures as you may have noticed trying to use as much scripture as possible to come to my conclusion.
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters,
If the Earth was void and dark, how could it be called Earth? How can it actually be called anything? Without form: H8414
תּהוּ
tôhû
to'-hoo
From an unused root meaning to lie waste; a desolation (of surface), that is, desert; figuratively a worthless thing; adverbially in vain: - confusion, empty place, without form, nothing, (thing of) nought, vain, vanity, waste, wilderness.
Void: H922
בּהוּ
bôhû
bo'-hoo
From an unused root (meaning to be empty); a vacuity, that is, (superficially) an undistinguishable ruin: - emptiness, void.
Darkness: H2822
חשׁך
chôshek
kho-shek'
From H2821; the dark; hence (literally) darkness; figuratively misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness: - dark (-ness), night, obscurity.
So now we have the Earth which is desolate, dark, destructive, and empty. Did God create the Earth as desolate, dark, and empty? No He did not. The Bible says that God saw what he created and it was good. So how did the Earth go from being good to being empty and dark?
Going back to what Jesus said earlier, "Luk 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." When Satan fell, he was cast out into the earth. In Revelation there is a single verse of scripture that speaks of Satan and his wrath; Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. The inhabitants of Earth will have woes because of this and this means every creature including animals and any humans that will be here.
I'll Lay my Crown
My Conclusion
My Conclusion
Using what I read from the Bible, I conclude that Satan was cast to the Earth before man was created. I conclude that he destroyed everything God created simply because he was wroth with God and wanted to hurt God in anyway possible. We know that times really means nothing to God, but it means a lot to us. We plan things according to time, we recognize things according to time such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc. . . God sees all things as having been finished before we see anything even started.
If there were dinosaurs created before man, Satan I believe, instead of an asteroid, killed them. As I stated earlier, many scientists claim an asteroid hit the earth causing the ice age which then killed out the dinosaurs. Many animals that were created before, are now extinct because of Satan's wrath and anger toward God.
I also conclude that since God created man and gave him dominion over the earth, that Satan now hates mankind. Anything that God tries to do, Satan resists because of his anger and hatefulness.
A friend told me a long time ago that if God has a need for anything at all, it is a need to fix things. God created man to replenish the Earth and have dominion over it because Satan destroyed it and made it desolate and dark.
Those who are reading this and do not know God on a personal level, you can know Him. Just as God provided for Adam, God provides for you also. He fixed what Satan destroyed and made a way for you to come to know Him. Jesus Christ Himself died so that you may have life. In the beginning, there was God. God was God the Father, God the Word, and God the Holy Ghost. God the Word took off His glory to redeem man from the bondage that Satan has us placed under. He had to come without His glory, because nothing can stand the glory of God. Everything would simply burn up.
He came in the glory of man, but left to go back to heaven with His full glory once again. We who believe are called the righteousness of God. We will one day step into the glory of God, if we simply hold on to His Word. I encourage believers to stop resisting God and what He wants you to do. I urge all who do not believe, to give God a chance. if given an opportunity, God will take it and not let you down.

absolutely awesome my friend. You said it right. I have ready Hubs in the same line. Thank yo very much. Blessing.
Well written and researched. Only, death came into the earth by Adams sin, and all that died, was by the flood!
Very interesting Hub, and very well thought out, and you give food for thought to those who are on the fence.
I enjoyed very much.
:)
Interesting take on an asteroid being Satan’s fall. While I don’t see Satan called an angel anywhere in the Bible (yet heylel, the king of Babylon, is a fallen angel in Isaiah 14), angels are called ‘stars’. I imagine the Dragon’s (Satan) fall could have been something so catastrophic.
You did pose the question, “Jesus saw Satan fall. How could Jesus have seen him fall if He had not been born yet?” You then concluded that Jesus saw Satan fall before man was created, which I believe as well. ‘Saw’ Is past tense. Jesus is God in the flesh, so before He became flesh He was God in Spirit (John 1:1; 4:24). Therefore, He saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. It’s a ‘telling’ statement, as when He said, ‘before Abraham was, I AM.” (John 8:58)
Due to another hubber’s similar view of the earth being created long before the six-day creation account, I also researched this and came to the same conclusion as you have here. “The earth [existing] was without form,” etc. (Gen 1:2) AND, for God to say the same words to Adam and Eve, prior to the great deluge (Gen 1:28) as He did to Noah and his family, after the great deluge (Gen 9:1) - “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” makes one think the world was inhabited at an earlier time, just not recorded in the Bible. This certainly may answer regarding the dinosaurs, etc.
I enjoyed your insights, SirDent! God bless you.
Hi Bro
Just a small bit, here. Satan was already in the Garden, while Adam was there, and Adam named all the animals, including the Dinosaurs. Even though Lucifer/Satan did get thrown out of heaven by Michael, I cant say Lucifer/Satan impacted like a meteorite, because that would violate Adams earth given to man by God.
Yep Jesus is God and he was in control of everything in the beginning as he still is today.
I believe God created the earth first and it was formless and void then God began creating life on it, staring with night and day. All life was created after this.
Go well
Hi brother Dent! Her name is libby101a and here's the link: http://hubpages.com/_ui1xcnn62gpk/hub/Beyond-the-G :) God bless you!!
Interesting insights. It will be fascinating when we all get to see and know how this all played out.
I enjoyed all your word studies. They were a helpful back up to your theory.
Hi SirDent, Well, you invited me so here I am. I read the hub and it's a good musing/study about one possibility of how dinosaurs disappeared from earths landscape using the bible as a guide.
First of all let me share with you that I am a Christian, and not a new one at that. I was raised in a traditional Judeo/Christian faith. Other than that I do believe that God wants me to use my brain outside the realm of biblical scriptures. I only mention that because I have at times been chastised by my Christian brothers for questioning things, but as I see it, that has more to do with their doubts than mine. Doubting is a natural thing, we know for instance about Thomas needing to see and touch the wounds of Jesus. Additionally, since Adam & Eve took from the tree of knowledge mankind has been forced to provide for ourselves things that would have otherwise been provided by God had transgression not caused us to be tossed out of Eden. Providing for ourselves requires us to think.
Okay, now then on to the musing/study itself. Since you have asked for an honest opinion I'm going to give you as honest opinion as I can.
I only spot one thing about the scripture verses you quote that leaves more room for explanation. Early in the study you beg the question "how could Jesus have witnessed the fall of Lucifer/Satan if he had not yet been born?" I agree with your conclusion, but you never really elucidated how you arrived at it, so I am going to sort of pick up where you left off. I did not see you give the verse for your conclusion either.
The chapter and verse is John-1:1-2 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. "He" was with God in the beginning."
The reader first needs to be aware that "Word" here is from the Greek "Logos", which translates into today’s English roughly as "Persona". If we then consider what a "logo" is, it becomes more clear...Think of a businesses "logo" it is unique to that business, and means that business. If I say "golden arches" it likely brings to mind McDonalds, because that is their logo.
Now lets take the verse from the Gospel of John, and use the title "Christ" in place of "Word" and see what we get:
"In the beginning was the Christ, and the Christ was with God, and the Christ was God. He was with God in the beginning."
Quickly for any new Christian reader who may not realize..."Christ" is not the last name of our Lord Jesus, but is instead a title which means Messiah, Mediator, or "The Anointed One".
What John 1:1-2 tells us then is that Christ and God are one in the same, and always have been, so the reason Jesus witnessed the fall of Lucifer from heaven was that he was there, and indeed it was Jesus who cast him down.
SirDent you're absolutely correct on that point of scripture.
On the conclusions you reach about Satan being the asteroid or meteor that science claims as one of the possible reason for the demise of the dinosaur, and why dinosaurs are not mentioned in scripture I am not convinced. That is not to say that you should not be convinced by your own musings, or if others who read this are satisfied with it, that they should not be convinced.
To explain why I am not convinced does not require me to refer much to scripture, and hinges more on what we have learned about earth and our solar system in the course of recorded history, and is also really quite simple.
The first thing is that we observe in our galaxy, asteroids, comets, and meteors on a regular basis. Although it has been a very long time since the earth has been impacted by an asteroid, or meteor of a size substantial enough to darken the atmosphere; we have had “near” misses by some such large and observable objects. Coupled with the fact meteorites impact our planet almost daily, I am skeptical of Satan being cast out of heaven as the reason for earths darkening and the subsequent demise of the dinosaurs.
There are exists more than one impact site, or impact craters on the surface of the earth. These craters vary in size substantially, so it would be hard to account for each of them as the impact site of a fallen angel. To me an angel would have been hurled from heaven at approximately the same velocity, and although they may vary in size and weight, I don’t imagine that they should vary any more than a man would when compared to other men. The immense number and varying sizes of observable crater, or impact sites in the galaxy cannot be explained away very easily therefore by Revelation-12:9 “and his angels with him.” Which brings up another relevant point, and that is if Lucifer were cast down to earth, and his angles with him, then why do we observe impact craters on the moon, and on Mars, and indeed on other planets in the milky way galaxy? The scripture says nothing about angels being cast throughout the universe, or atmosphere. I’m not saying that it is totally beyond the realm of possibility, but the theory itself would require much more explanation, and observable science to be acceptable.
Here is another issue that is difficult to overcome with the scripture…God is the same yesterday, today, and forever…. Why then did not God re-populate the earth with dinosaurs after casting Satan to the earth? Basically what you’re postulating is that God was starting over the creation from scratch, and to that I have to wonder why God would have changed his mind about dinosaurs, because we know he is the same always.
Christians have difficulty with this issue, so it isn’t just you or I SirDent, and I do not wish to be a reason for causing you or anyone else any doubt. The fact is however, that some Christians claim that mankind and dinosaurs did inhabit the earth together at one time. They use for evidence of this fossil sites like Glenrose, TX which contains both footprints of dinosaur and man, and although I still have questions, and remain skeptical, I do find this theory more acceptable than the one you came up with. The site in Glenrose remains controversial.
The explanation that fits best for me is simply that the first four “days” of creation were not measured by the rising and setting of the sun in the sky (Genesis 14), and therefore we do not have the necessary information to conclude how long a day might have been. If that is the case, then perhaps parts of quantum physics, and evolution, align with scripture and really there is no controversy at all, except the one that man brings into it. I count myself among the 40% of Christians who sees no conflict between creation, and evolution. Absolutely, I do not believe that man and monkey share a common ancestor, that part of “natural selection” is far from anything other than supposition and remains highly controversial.
There are some very smart Christian “Intelligent Design” scientists, and a web site that is available for anyone interested in exploring these particular issues:
Thanks for inviting me SirDent, it’s been fun, and I must say that I was impressed with your knowledge of Greek and Hebrew.
SirDent
Void and Dark also means without life, because the "Spirit of God" had not called life into being on the earth. Men lived to a very old age, before the flood, and so did the animals, especially reptiles. Reptiles continue to grow even today, so you could imagine a baby Dinosaur growing and living to 900years old, it would be huge, and hence where the fossils came from "Noahs Flood"
The moisture in the tree expands into an explosion thats why it scorches .
God says He "created light and formed darkness" It was in creating light that formed darkness. Like science has proved you cannot measure darkness, but only measure light. therefore darkness is the absence of light.
All information pertaining to Gods word is essential to Salvation, it reproves, teaches and corrects.
Peace bro
Sir Dent,
Very good writing and thoughtful explanation of Satan caste down to earth. If you feel Satan was a star of measurable impact, then what relevance do you equate to Wormwood? I really appreciated your layman’s terminology.
@Coming of Age – you just continue to amaze with your depth and breadth of knowledge, is it easier for you to write down that with which you do not know? ;-)
God Bless you both, this is very enlightening.
Sirdent, I really appreciate what you have to say, and I think you have put a lot of thought into your theory. However, dinosaurs had to be living along side Adam and others. After all, death did not enter into the world until after Eve and Adam were tempted by Satan. Therefore, all creatures had to be eating only plant life until after the fall from grace. Some people try to make others believe that animals with huge pointed teeth are only meat eaters, but the fruit bat has the largest pointed teeth of all bats. Also, bears eat mostly plants. So, I don't find it hard to believe that all creatures ate some type of plant life before the fall. As far as the question," Can God create something void, dark, and desolate?, I say that God can create anything the way he so desires. I have seen farmers look out over a plowed field and state how beautifull there field is. Even though the field is bare with nothing growing upon it, the farmers feel that it will soon be fruitful. Are you saying that God couldn't have felt the same way about his freshly plowed earth? I would also like to renind you that many ancient pictographs have been found that dipict men along side of antelopes and dinosaurs. Evolutionist have a very difficult time attempting to explain these pictographs. After all, some of them have men encircling a T-Rex while holding spears. How about Granite? When specific isotopes contact one another, a gas is released immediately. Evolutionist believe that the earth was once a molten mass, and that there was a long cooling off period. Well, the problem is that Granite has the gas trapped inside of it. That could only occur if the Granite solidified immediately as the gas was formed. So, Granite was formes instantly. There was no cooling off period. By the way, Granite is the most abundant rock on earth. So, Granite proves the evolutionist wrong abundantly.
Hi SirDent,
You were not at all unclear, I knew that you meant satan was cast out of heaven as a physical angel. The reason I mentioned impact craters was because of the comparison of a "nuclear winter" which I based on the following sentences from your article...
{To fall as lightning falls means Satan fell really hard and fast. When he hit the ground, he hit it very hard.
Some scientists believe an asteroid hit the Earth millions of years ago and caused the ice age. According to what Jesus said, it was Satan that hit the earth, not an asteroid.}
When I typed "impact craters", and asserted that there were more than one, I meant only that science identifies at least one such crater as a possible cause of nuclear winter, subsequent ice age, and extinction of the dinaosaurs.
Of course even that being the cause of dinosaur extinction is not a proven fact.
Science surely does not hold all of the answers.
Only God knows the mechanisms by which he created the earth. Man aquires bits and pieces of knowledge and is only able to speculate about the rest.
I rated this one up. Although some of it is speculative, I agree with a lot of it, Sir Dent.
The only thing I take issue with is Coming of Age's statement that fossilized footprints of both dinosaurs and early man are to be found in the river bed of the Paluxy River at Glen Rose, Texas. Yes, dinosaur footprints they have, but I've never heard of footprints of hominids discovered there. I live about 1 hour and 15 minutes from Glen Rose, and have visited the dinosaur footprint site, even though river conditions were not the best for viewing the dinosaur tracks. If anyone can tell me differently about the types of tracks found there, I will race over to Glen Rose and check this out at my earliest opportunity!
Although I personally don't believe that God's first creations, Adam and Eve, lived alongside the dinosaurs, that doesn't mean that other Christians are wrong about this. Not at all. But I just feel dinosaurs were a part of an earlier creation which got destroyed for God's own reasons. Whether Satan's fall was the cause of the earth being decimated from the impact, I don't know.
Outstanding! I thoroughly enjoyed reading your concepts. I had not heard this version of events before. It is plausible—certainly as plausible as the whole universe miraculously creating itself somehow out of this air (if you know what I mean). :D
SirDent: You do have a unique way of looking at things some I get some not. Thank you though for this interesting piece.
Brother Dave.
Doesn't make much sense. You're saying God created Earth & everything except humans, then Satan was an asteroid that wrecked everything (including dinosaurs that were just created), then God created Adam & Eve in a perfect garden, then Eve ate some fruit (which was the sin that stuffed everything up for everyone since)??????
Very interesting Hub along with great speculation and theory on the comments. I appreciate the read and explanations everyone left. Thanks!
SirDent,
Always assuming we're first, best, and just as wonderful as we can be, I think we leap forward too briskly where we are and what we see before us is God's first creative steps - but, from God's perspective, before He could make the earth (and universe) He had to create the time and space to place earth in.
In the very beginning, before the beginning, from all eternity, there was only God, the infinite and eternal Spirit . . . when (our language fails us because there actually was no 'when' yet) God determined to make man to love and fellowship with, He made the earth to put him on - but this material (the earth and man) required space and time to exists in and so God first made space and time to place His creation into.
Some may think this idea too esoteric and not at all useful to how live-out our Christian lives for God, but I believe any understanding that aids us in recognizing God is not merely a really big super-human in the sky, but is the infinite, eternal Spirit who is limitless in His holiness as well as His power and attributes, serves us well as we both obey and worship and love our heavenly Father.
Mickey
I always believed Satan destroyed the Earth although scientists do discredit it. Your perspective on how the Earth began and what transpired really has me thinking. Wonderfully written. :)
Good comments, all of them; but all are based on the presumption that Satan LIVED in heaven. According to Isaiah 45:18, God did NOT create the earth in vain (tohu=chaos and waste.) His work is perfect and glorious. It BECAME tohu. What happened? In Isaiah 14:12-14, said, "I will..." 1. ascend into heaven. Wherever he was, he would have to go up to ascend. 2. exalt my throne above the stars of God. So he had a throne/kingdom. 3. sit upon the mount of the congregation (God's throne.) He was after God's throne. 4. ascend above the heights of the clouds, so Lucifer's atmosphere included clouds which he would have to rise above. and 5. be like the most High, or be like God and take His place on His throne in His kingdom.
Entertain the thought for a moment that the earth was Lucifer's kingdom-though he had access to the heavenlies--not the kingdom of heaven. (In Job, Satan was among those that presented themselves before God.) Satan's rebellion so angered God, that God threw him out of His presence and removed Himself (for He is light and life) from the earth's environment, causing it to BECOME (was, Gen. 1:1) a chaotic wasteland covered by dark waters. He later revisited earth to create man in His own image who was designed to rule and reign over Satan. (Of course, we all know His man sold out to Satan, so Jesus had to shed his blood to redeem the authority that was meant for man.)
If only people would get a revelation of the power and authority that God gave to us, then recaptured for us!

up and beautiful! What an in-depth study. Well written and researched. God did make a way through Jesus...
