A Spooky Story
66My Son
My son wrote this story for a school assignment. He is 11 years old in sixth grade. I hope you enjoy it very much. I just want people to read it and comment on it if they want.

Garden Gnome
Once, in the forests of Montana, two brothers were walking through the woods. They stopped to observe a footprint in the dirt. It had a pointed toe. They followed the footprints to a cave. Inside they found two people tied up in vines. They unwrapped them and continued on with them. As they went further inside, many skeletons were there. They were terrified. They found the footprints again. They followed them to several more people. They had no idea what lurked deeper inside.
Four children had gone missing on the day of October 31. Their parents were worried out of their minds. For years people have reported what they described as, "A monster of a lawn gnome."
Another search team went in the caves. They never returned. The next day, another search team dissappeared in the caves. What was happening.
Maybe the military was needed. Nobody came back out.
So what is happening?
As people began disappearing, more people wonder. One day three sisters had an encounter with it. It had a plastic leg that it could take of and hit people with it. It had a detachable head. Its long hair could come alive and kill you. So nobody will ever solve the mystery. . .
Attack of the Evil Gnomes
In Conclusion
This capsule was written by me, not my son. I just thought I should make that clear.
I hope you enjoyed the read. If you feel you are scared out of your wits and having chest pains I suggest calling 911 and the phone number is 911. I will not be held responsible for medical care of any who are scared to the point of having a heart attack.
Are Garden GNomes really evil?

I would have turned the ads on :-) Nice job! I might ask my daughter for permission to share some of her stories - good idea!
great story,,, you have a good imagination,,, and this story gets A plus
I think it was a very good story, too. I don't like garden gnomes very much either, but some people are scared of them. and I am not opposed to using them for self defense (as in my hub).
Giant Garden Gnomes could be very intimidating
He has brilliant wit as well-- I especially liked "I suggest calling 911 and the phone number is 911."
What a great story. I am spooked outta my skull. I wish I had waited until the morning before I read it b/c NOW I have to go to bed. You may be sure, I will check under my bed in case the evil gnomes have gotten down here to Fl.
I usta think that gnomes were sweet little cute thingies but NOW I KNOW DIFFERENTLY. I hope you write more.
I'm with mollybonne - it scared the willy bejabers out of me! And I can see them now peering in the window ...
Writing promotes literacy among youngsters, and promoting children's writing is the best way to go. Way to go sirdent and tell your son I like his story.
Most excellent story telling...
By the way: The gnomes and the lawn jockeys are all in the same union and perpetrate evil deeds when bribed by the weed demons of Crabgrass Workers Local #666. Your son may use that in his next story.
I did enjoy this very much. I remember how hard it was to write stories when I had an assignment in the 6th grade. Not an easy task! Good job sirdent's son! Would you be my ghostwriter for my future hubs?
This is really a cool way to encourage your son to write more. Writing allows them to explore their creative abilities at the same time they are better able to articulate their thoughts and feelings. As he keeps improving you can encourage him to write on more topics if needed even spending more time in research. As the quote in my local library says "Readers are leaders".
I see lots of potential in your kid and gnomes was a good topic. Btw did you upload the video or you searched for it. I liked the caveat and 911 call. LOL
Yes, very cool. I've added your hub link to a few other great ones at mine about Scary Foods!
Oh thank you sirdent. I have no doubt you will be a fair and kind manager as you are a fair and kind hubber! I will help your son's exposure to ghostwriting with a link at my Halloween hub!
This reminds me a lot of the creativity I saw in the students I taught in Galena, when I was the computer teacher there. Of course, the school wanted them only to master touch typing, but I went against the grain, taught them how to use programs that actually meant something to them, and got fired for it.
BUT - many of the students I taught are now all busy working in computer-based industries, and some of them were earning up to $75,000 while still in high school! I give them the credit for taking what we workled on together, running with it, learning more than I ever could have taught, and making a success of their lives.
If you show a child the way, they will discover a new world on their own.
Excellent hub and 1,000 thanks for sharing it!

This story was eerie and for an 11 year old to write this, he certainly had a wonderfully creative mind. He did a great job! :)
I know he does and he is going to go far with his writing ability! Great work, I give him an A+ :D
I hope he got a good grade on that! If not, his teachers soul is in desperate need of devouring. c:
