Chocolate Fudge
By SirDent
One Pound of Fudge
Introduction
As the holiday season approaches, there are many ways to celebrate and relieve stress from shopping, cooking, etc. . . One of the best ways is to make a batch of fudge. I prefer chocolate fudge over peanut butter, but I know many have different tastes and wants or needs. This recipe is one of my favorites and I would have a batch of this at home constantly if possible.
Ingredients
- 3 Cups of sugar
- 2/3rd cup of cocoa
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 12 ounces of evaporated milk
- 1/2 stick of marg or butter
- 1 tsp. of vanilla
- appr. 12 ounces of peanut butter (Add more if you like more PB taste)
Directions
Combine all dry ingredients add to cream and mix thoroughly. Turn heat on to med high heat stirring constantly. Reduce heat once it starts to boil. Boil stirring occasionally until it reaches 232 degrees or when it forms a soft ball in ice water.
Remove from heat add margarine (butter) then vanilla and peanut butter stirring briskly until it loses it's gloss (it is possible to use a hand held mixer for stirring in this step). Scoop onto a buttered large plate or 10 x 13 inch pan. Let set
Final Thoughts
I hope this recipe is one you will enjoy throughout the Holiday season. To me there is nothing like grabbing a big chunk of homemade fudge after working or shopping all day long.

Great recipe. We will be trying it! Thanks SirDent! One of my favorite things in life is fudge!!!!!!
I am glad you like the recipe. One word of warning to all. If you're not careful you will end up with this.
LOL warning heeded
Good ASU. On that hub is also a link going to a page which shows the way to keep from getting the disease. I only wish I had read that page a long time ago.
BEST FUDGE IS THE ONE WHERE YOU USE MARSHMALLOW CREME,,RECIPEE IS ON THE JAR
There is no way that marshamllow creme fudge is better than mine!
WELL I AM SURE WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN FAVORITE KIND THAT WE LIKE TO EAT AND MAKE,,,,,
Marshmallow creme fudge isn't real fudge. :P
Can it be made with splenda???????????
You can substitute sugar with any sweetener you desire, but I don't know why anyone would want to do that. :P
Actually I do know why. Diabetics shouldn't eat much sugar at all. Replacing the sugar with a different sweetener is much better for them.
Great hub if i was out in the desert i would want it to rain Fudge LOL
Thanks Mike. I think I can agree with you on that. ;)
I was requested to make Peanut Butter and Chocolate fudge for Thanksgiving by my daughter. I also make several different kinds of fudge as Christmas gifts. I did this last year and the year before I made cookies.
LG, this is a great recipe. I have eaten many many pounds of this fudge. :P
That's my problem--if I make fudge in my house I will eat it til it is gone---no moderation there! My way of avoiding the "temptation" is to not have it at all!!
I have no ideas what you mean by that statement LG!!!!! :P
Hahahahaha
LOL!!! I wish we could put at least emoticons in these here comments!!
Me too LG. :P
First I read a hub on beer and now this? You guys are killin' me:)
I won't comment on beer, but this fudge is great. Thanks for the comment Rob. :D

Silly you didnt have to say it twice. You probably thought you owuld get two samples didn't you. :P
I can see your thumb print on the fudge. Yummy looking recipe :).
That isn't my thumb print honest (A) Getting ready to make a batch this afternoon.
I lost my will and am going to make this today!!
Don't blame me if you get a sugar rush LG :P
Can I make a suggest sirdenty. Please put a picture of your own fudge on here after you make it today :). That will be so cool.
I might try that Sweetie. Thanks for the suggestion. :p Maybe a pic of me with fudge all over my face. :P
LOL
LOL????
:P
That would be a cute pic and make more peole want to make it. You know especially since kids like to play with their food, and if you act like a big kid playing with your food they will think you are super cool.
Sweetie, He is super cool anyway!!! ;)
Flatterers!!!!! :P
Hey I just thought of a tip. Before you put the butter in the mixture and before you take the wrapper off of it rub it around the pan you plan to put the fudge in first with it.
Yum. Thanks.
Good tip LG. I just thought that was a given. Candace, please save some for the rest of us.
Great Hub, but anything with marshmallows is real!! Nice Job
No marshmallows in my fudge Rice. Thanks for the comment.
Well the first batch was too dry because I was making it and then my daughter caled and I cooked it down to long. the second batch was delicious--well we are still eating it! Thank You for posting this!!
Glad you got it right the second time LG.
I almost always have to do things more than once to get it right.
i believe i did everything right, except i wasn't able to make sure the temp was 232, but it did form a soft ball in ice water, but it had not hardened yet and it's been 14 hours. Any ideas?
Momof3, The only trhing I know to say is that it either didn't cook long enough, of you didn't stir it long enough. When you fix the fudge, if you notice it is very glossy when you first start stirrin in the peanut butter. All of the gloss should be gone before you atop stirring it. It will look very dull.
I hope this helps. I wouldn't cook it longer until I tried to stir it longer first. I know when I stir the peanut butter in my arm feels very heavy by the time I am finsihed stirring.
thanks! I've just been eating the goo from the pan and it's very good, but hopefully next time, will turn out the way it's supposed to.
Goo is good too momof3. I surely hope your next batch turns out right.
I will put this in my list of recipes to try this holiday season. I might add just a touch of nuts because we are nut lovers. Can't wait for the holidays - thanks!
This is a great recipe which actually belongs to my wife Aqua.
