Noah's Flood: Local or Global?
69
Gen 1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
All waters in one place. If all waters were in one place then all land was connected.
Gen 6:7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
Destruction coming to the whole Earth.
Gen 7:4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
Rain is coming.
Gen 7:10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
The flood came upon the earth.
Gen 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
The fountains of the deep is opened and the windows of heaven are opened. Could have been major tsunami one right after another.
Fountains ( H4599 From H5869 (as a denominative in the sense of a spring); a fountain (also collectively), figuratively a source (of satisfaction): - fountain, spring, well.)
Deep (H8415 (Usually feminine) from H1949; an abyss (as a surging mass of water), especially the deep (the main sea or the subterranean water supply): - deep (place), depth.)
Gen 7:18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
Water upon the earth; ark upon the waters.
Earth (H776 From an unused root probably meaning to be firm; the earth (at large, or partitively a land): - X common, country, earth, field, ground, land, X nations, way, + wilderness, world.)
Gen 7:21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
All flesh that moved upon the earth died; not fish.
Gen 8:2 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;
Rain stopped, fountains of the deep stopped, and windows of heaven are stopped.
Gen 8:3 And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.
Waters returned( A primitive root; to turn back (hence, away) transitively or intransitively, literally or figuratively (not necessarily with the idea of return to the starting point); generally to retreat; often adverbially again: - ([break, build, circumcise, dig, do anything, do evil, feed, lay down, lie down, lodge, make, rejoice, send, take, weep]) X again, (cause to) answer (+ again), X in any case (wise), X at all, averse, bring (again, back, home again), call [to mind], carry again (back), cease, X certainly, come again (back) X consider, + continually, convert, deliver (again), + deny, draw back, fetch home again, X fro, get [oneself] (back) again, X give (again), go again (back, home), [go] out, hinder, let, [see] more, X needs, be past, X pay, pervert, pull in again, put (again, up again), recall, recompense, recover, refresh, relieve, render (again), X repent, requite, rescue, restore, retrieve, (cause to, make to) return, reverse, reward, + say nay, send back, set again, slide back, still, X surely, take back (off), (cause to, make to) turn (again, self again, away, back, back again, backward, from, off), withdraw.) continually off the face of the earth, going back into the seas.
Gen 10:25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.
Peleg (H6389 earthquake; Peleg, a son of Shem: - Peleg.) is born. The earth is divided.

very interesting theories!
So Dent, you really think you have mastered the word of God as it pertains to the flood? I wonder when you think this flood took place. Pangea took millions of years of separation to become what we have today. Noah probably existed a little less than 4500 years ago (some believe there are gaps in genesis puting the flood up to 50,000 years ago). I noticed your remark about "these are not theories, but the word of God", or something. In fact, your hypothesis isn't good enough to be a theory and it definatelly is not the word of God. I already supplied biblical proof that the entire globe was never flooded after the land rose up out of the sea.
Yeah, don't bother scientists to find out when the earth was flooded. They have their work to do and fundies have their global flood to lay down all of the fossil layers of the earth. The world was flooded after it cooled enough for rain to remain on it. Seizmic activity pushed the land (Pangea) up. This continues to take place, or else the entire globe would eventually be covered again, due to weathering. The globe has not been thouroughly covered since. I provided enough scripture on the other hub to show that the Earth was not covered a second time. Either that, or God's word lies when it says:
Psa 104:6 Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At Thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of Thy thunder they hasted away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them.
V.9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over, that they turn not again to cover the earth.
With the exception of Noah's flood.
Thank you for publishing this interesting Hub. I enjoyed reading it. Well done!
There are many different myths and legends about a global flood destroying all but a select few. There is even one among the Hopi Indians

Interesting hub from you perspective. As I said before I believe that God created the world, but it took many centuries for the continents to separate. Many scientists of a Christian background believe it took much more than the great flood for the continents to separate and this is my thinking also. However, young world creationists believe that the world was created in six literal days and that the flood separated the continents, so some scientists do agree with this. I myself believe God created the world, but it was not in a literal set of time. It does not say in the Bible that the continents were separated by the flood, so being a Christian is not a pre-requsite for that. I tend to identify more with the old world creationists who do not take the creation of the world and the continents to be a literal set of time. It even says in the Bible a day to God can be like a thousand days to man, which shows that time in the eyes of God is not the literal calendar year we think of. Also, during the times in which the Bible was written they operated on a lunar calendar, which goes further to show the symoblism that can often be found when talking of days and years. Christians can disagree I believe.
