My Mother at the age of 20.

Dread

She found the lump on her breast one day

Didn't go to the doc, nothing to say

Passing it off like nothing matters

Until that day our hearts were shattered

Sick and defeated she died in her bed

Burying mother is what I would dread

I recall all the times she was happy and free

My dear Lord please, don't let this thing be

Then I heard a voice so still and small

Be of good cheer my child she is in awe

She lives with me now praising my name

Just wants you to know life isn't the same

She made her choice to live life for me

Decided to not get help and be set free

Make wise choices as through life you go

Get the help you need and don't tell me no

The doctors use the wisdom I gave

So cancer cannot make you its slave.

Mothers Day- an acrostic poem

Pro 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

Mom invariably loves her children.

Often giving, when she should be

Taking privileges, for punishment.

Having inner strength,

Even when they had been licentious.

Resisting temptations to bruise,

So she can then regenerate them,

Distributing unconditional love equally to them,

As they thank her for the virtuous times,

Yet to be discovered.

My mother passed away over 9 years ago, after battling the dreadful disease of cancer. She fought long and hard, but was eventually called home to be with the Lord. I dedicate this poem in her honor. I still miss her, even today.

My pleasure SirDent, I like to read your poem over and over again. I was also very attached to my parents. My mom died due to septicaemia after an infection following operation of hip replacement. She was a diabetic. My dad was a very poius person and lived to be a 101 years. My own life is full of tragedies and I am coping with life by God's grace. I trust in God Almighty. Thank you for a nice poem.

Thank you once again Kulsum. I am glad you like reading them over and over again, but more glad that the grace of God is with you.

May the Lord bless you abundantly in this hour that we now live.

Beautiful poems, SirDent - I liked those very much.

Sorry about your sad loss and I hope that your poem manages to raise awareness of this condition. If even one life has been saved, then your words have achieved much :)

Your Mother was a beautiful physical person, and somehow I am sure she remained that way inside...and now she is PERFECT, in Heaven. Yes, it is so hard to let go...

Thank you for sharing your poetic words and feelings!

I don't normally like poetry, but I really loved the first one you had on this hub especially. So touching, so heartfelt and so well written. I have experienced Cancer in my late Husband, and I know this is a cruel and horrible disease that destroys lives and families. I feel for anyone who has been through this, either personally or indirectly.

Hi Misty, it has been a long time since we crossed paths. I am glad you loved the poem. I agree that cancer is cruel and horrible. When a loved one dies, especially from such a disease, a part of the family dies with them.

Thank you for your read and comment.
