Poetry and Prose
68This was done as a writing exercise. Acrostic poems are generally easy to do. One must use their imagination and try to come up with something unique, but at the same time keep with the subject matter of the title. I certainly hope you enjoy this one I wrote.
An acrostic poem is a poem where the first letter of each line spells a word or a phrase when written in order from the first line to the last line.

Poetry flows smooth
On wings of rhythm,
Encouraging the reader
To finish each line,
Reading every word carefully,
Yearning for more.
Always feeling for emotions,
Not desiring to be told
Daring to see imagery
Projected in writing
Reeling in sensations
Of various measure
Sending the reader into
Epic proportions of rhapsody.
Cinquiano Poem
A cinquiano poem is a poem with twenty-two (22) syllables total. The first line will have two (2) syllables, the second eight (8), the third six (6), the fourth four (4), and the final line will have two (2) syllables like the first.
Oak Tree
Stately
Growing hale and high, leaves flutter
At passersby, humbly
Bowing without
Breaking.
Basic Rhyming Poetry
Basic rhyming poetry can vary in rhming patterns. There are so many patterns that i will not list them all here. The poem Conerstone of Hell is one I wrote for a contest from a prompt. Unfortunately I misread the prompt. It was actually Cornerstore of Hell. I think I just got a litte excited.
Enjoy this poem. . . if you can!
Cornerstone of Hell
You know of me. . . I am the man
Whom you hate to see when you're asleep.
I come in dreams, I need not bring my clan
I'm the Cornerstone of Hell! where souls weep.
No one can escape from my mighty hand.
My grip is death to all here in my place.
This destiny is not what you planned.
When you come here you will see my face.
I'm the mightiest angel of all.
Smell the fire and all the brimstone.
I was worthy of heaven, standing tall
Stuck in this pit forever. . .not alone.
While I'm here I'll be very livid.
I'll torment and torture all the souls.
Your time here. . . will surely be horrid
Amid the sulfur and flaming coals.
My name is Satan! as you should know.
Fallen from heaven to lie, steal and kill
To destroy those who choose to follow
This angel of light. . . of their own freewill.
Weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth too
As my demons laugh at you and scorn.
You beg for mercy; with your mouth you chew,
On your flesh. . . wishing you were never born.
Free Verse Poetry
Free verse poetry needs no rhyming or a certain pattern. Melodies always make poems better, but is not necessary in free verse. The following poem tells a story, of sorts, that is easily seen. I do hope you enjoy it very much.
Love me, Love my Ghosts
If you love me,
You must love my ghosts.
They are with me
Everywhere I go.
My ghosts are not spirits,
As many believe them to be.
My ghosts are my past
They always follow me.
They are what makes me
Who I am today.
Everywhere I go,
My ghosts always stay.
New ghosts come
As I walk each step.
Molding, shaping me,
Making me my best.
Take me as I am
Try to change me not.
Love me, love my ghosts
Or please just, love me not.
Prose
Prose is poetry written in everyday language. Words used are words we use on a daily basis. It can be written in paragraph form or traditional poem form. It should show a story instead of just telling the story.

sir dent, this is a new face from my perspective. i really love the poem love me love my ghosts and i can totally relate. so i say to you, love me love MY ghosts. thanks for being vulnerable, which is what poetry requires.
Your poetry is always beautiful. I have never been much of a poet, wrote a few haikus in sixth grade, but I had more fun designing the book for our class. Great to read poetry by those such as yourself who have the gift for it.
