SirDent's Peach Cobbler

Introduction
Dessert is something that is supposed to be sensual and satisfying. This recipe is one that I have kept in my head for a long time. As far as I know, nobody else knows this recipe until now.
Peach cobbler is very good and especially good with Home Made Vanilla Ice Cream. Of course Ice Cream bought from the supermarket will work just fine.
I always used home canned peaches for this. I am not sure how canned peaches from the store would work, but I am sure you could buy fresh peaches and prepare them as if you are going to can them.
Ingredients
1/4 pound of butter or margarine
1 quart jar of home canned peaches
1 1/2 cup of sugar
1 cup self rising flour
Preparation
Drain the peaches saving the juice for a later step. You want the peaches to be dry as possible. Put the butter or margarine in an 8 x 10 inch baking dish. Turn the oven on to 350 degrees F letting the butter melt. While the butter melts, prepare the dry ingredients. Take 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of flour mixing them together to get a constant consistency.
Once the butter is melted swirl it around in the baking dish coating it all around as much as possible, Take the remaining melted butter and add to the sugar and flour mixture. Using the juice from the peaches mix the dry ingredients to a consistency of Cake Batter.
Sweeten the peaches after draining using the remaining sugar. It may not take all of it, or it may take a little more, as it depends on your taste.
Pour the sweetened peaches into the baking dish as evenly as possible. Pour the batter over top and smooth.
Baking Directions
It takes between 45 minutes to an hour for this cobbler to bake thoroughly. It is done when the crust resembles a golden brown which is very close to the color of caramel.
Let it cool somewhat but is very good served hot also especially with Vanilla Ice Cream. I hope you enjoy this wonderfully delicious dessert.

I love peaches and this recipe sounds great. I never thought of using the juices to mix in the batter. That is a great idea. I take the kids peach picking every fall. I will need to bookmark this for later. I don't like peaches from the super market anymore and most canned ones aren't any better after you have had tree ripened ones from an orchard. Trader Joe's has some canned peach halves that are pretty good though. But, nothing else comes close. I really should learn to can my own. Usually I pick a ton then freeze some and eat or share all of the rest.
Fruit Cobblers are my favorite desserts. Thanks SirDent for sharing your secret for this scrumptious peach cobbler.
Wow Sir Dent, this sounds yummy and easy. I am all about simple, I am definitely going to try this because I love peach cobbler.
sounds good thanks for sharing it with us,,,, or better yet make a batch of it and will be over,,,
Cobble, cobble, cobble... going to make this one this week,
A sensual and satisfying dessert? You had me hooked, I need to try this one :)
My mom used to make apple and appricote crumble because we had those fruit trees. Later on we had a peach tree sprout from a little seedling and then were able to have peach cobbler. There is nothing better than home grown fruit and a cobbler. I have an obsession with making apple cobler actually. My sister says she does not like my cooking, but when I made it a few weeks ago she ate the whole pan.
sirdent, this sounds yummy that for sure. But have no oven as still traveling in caravan oh well will have to try when get home in about 5r months. thanks for sharing
Hey sirdent,
My sister is sometimes needs to eat better. Sometimes she does not eat anything all day but for a tiny thing, then she eats too many desserts. Oh well, I think she is so obsessed with being skinny I was actually glad she ate the cobbler. I have a question for you. Would you be interested in me recommending you to be an examiner.com examiner in your area? I was thinking maybe you can apply to write about Bible and other Church issues in your area. I have asked a few people if they want to write for the examiner, but no one really seems interested right now.
I think it would be good because it is a lot like writing here, but your just focus on one topic. They have people writing about almost every topic imaginable, so you can suggest a topic to write about if they do not have the topic for your area. I suggested my topic that I write about. I will send you the link in an email.
Like Jim, I have never thought of using the juice in the batter! What a great idea! I live a couple of miles from the "Peach Capital" and gather bushels every year. Sometimes we run out of things to do with them. I'm going to try your recipe with the juice--it sounds perfectly easy and delicious!
Yummy and not a whole lot of ingredients! I have got to try this one someday!!
I have since went back to using real butter now tht I also found out what is in margarine. New is not always better eithr. Ha! I foun out that I use less butter than I did margarine too. It is the taste. They used to sell "Butter buds" in the spice sections of the grocery stores, but I can't find tha anymore.
Yes I like the lesser ingredients.
A questiont hat I have been meaning to ask you and now that I remember it----Do you do most of the cooking in your home? The reason is --you have some very delicious recipes that you have shared with us here.
I love peach cobbler, its so easy to make and tastes soo good.
SD, this sounds yummy. I tried to get recipes from my grandmother before she passed away and one of the recipes that I really wanted from her was her peach cobbler recipe. I sat down with her and sked her to give me the recipe and she started telling me what when in it. After I wrote it all down I realized that their wasn't any measurements. I asked her for measurements and she said well just the amount that feels right, or about this much. I'm glad that I watched her cook as a kid because I was able to figure ot out finaly after many attempts and have now written it down for my kids. I never could get her biscuit recipe down though.
I think I might want to try this one too. Sounds delicious.
of course, thats the only way to eat cobbler, or straight out of the pan from the refrigerator during a lat night frig raid.
SirDent,

This is a nice recipe - a friend once tried to make this with a box of yellow cake mix and a can of peaches and it actually made me sick. But this won't!
