The Fall of Satan
74
Introduction
Luk 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Satan was cast out of heaven. Jesus beheld Satan fall as lightning. Lightning is a destructive force. Whatever it hits is destroyed. According to Revelation, Satan, was cast out of heaven. To cast out (G906 βάλλω ballō bal'-lo A primary verb; to throw (in various applications, more or less violent or intense): - arise, cast (out), X dung, lay, lie, pour, put (up), send, strike, throw (down), thrust.) Satan was thrown with force out of heaven and cast into the earth.
Three verses later in revelation we see that woe has come upon the inhabitants of the earth because the devil has come down to them. (Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time. ) He knows his time is short and he is busy causing destruction in every way he can. He hates God and pretends to be God, but his power is limited because God holds all power in His hands.
He is also stated to have great wrath. The word "wrath" in the greek is (G2372 θυμός thumos thoo-mos' From G2380; passion (as if breathing hard): - fierceness, indignation, wrath. Compare G5590) Notice how this word is from another word which is (G2380 θύω thuō thoo'-o A primary verb; properly to rush (breathe hard, blow , smoke ), that is, (by implication) to sacrifice (properly by fire, but generally); by extension to immolate (slaughter for any purpose): - kill, (do) sacrifice, slay.) So the word wrath actually could mean fierce passion to kill.
The Conversation sung to be between Satan and death
In the Garden
Eze 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.
Satan was in the Garden of Eden. His job is to destroy and he will do all he can to destroy everything. If we look back further in the Bible to Genesis we will see that at one time the earth was void and dark. We also see in Ezekiel that he was perfect until iniquity was found in him. God created this angel and gave him every precious stone as a covering. He had the best of everything, but he wasn't satisfied. He wanted to be above God and decided he would set his throne above the throne of God. He wanted to be above the stars of God (Isa 14:13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:).
He wanted to ascend above the height of the clouds and be like the Most High. ( Isa 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.) God said Satan will be brought down to hell. Many will mock him and say,"Is this the man who caused the earth to tremble and made the world a wilderness?" Remember above I mentioned Satan being thrown out of heaven with force as a lightning strike.
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
The word Lucifer is a greek word. We will explore it for a time now. The original word was ( H1966 הילל hêylêl hay-lale' From H1984 (in the sense of brightness ); the morning star: - lucifer.) This is according to Strong's Hebrew dictionary. If you notice there is a number that this word stems from. (H1984 הלל hâlal haw-lal' A primitive root; to be clear (originally of sound, but usually of color); to shine ; hence to make a show ; to boast ; and thus to be (clamorously) foolish ; to rave ; causatively to celebrate ; also to stultify: - (make) boast (self), celebrate, commend, (deal, make), fool (-ish, -ly), glory, give [light], be (make, feign self) mad (against), give in marriage, [sing, be worthy of] praise, rage, renowned, shine.) We can see by the definitions that Lucifer is a shining star who boasts foolishly. This is the iniquity that was found in Satan. So the verse of scripture could be read as (How art thou fallen from heaven, foolish boaster, who shines to make a show and raves to weaken nations.)
Isa 14:17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Satan does not release those he has in prison. He holds to them just because of the hatred he has. He refuses to let any go until God commands him to let them go. When God commands Satan to do something, he has to do it. He made the world a wilderness meaning it was desolate and did not support life.
I wrote before stating that Satan actually destroyed what God created. This was done in the beginning. I speculated when writing that hub and made that staement near the beginning of it. I did use the Word of God to come to my conclusion.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
In Concluding
You know, Jesus called Satan a liar and the father of lies. He also said the "truth" is not in him. He called Satan a thief and says what the thief actually comes to do. (Joh 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.) He further states His own purpose for coming to mankind. He came to give life to those who are dead. In other words, he came to save us all from destruction. He commands us to come out from the world but does not force us out. The choice is ours to make.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Satan will be bound one day for a thousand years. He will no longer be able to destroy as he has in the past. He has never truly fought against God as of yet. He has fought only against mankind. You see, he is angry for being cast out of heaven. He is full of wrath because God prefers mankind over him. He is beside himself because he hates God and everything that God loves. He is our enemy, and God has given us the victory over him.
We do not have to fear what Satan can do to us. His power comes from God Himself and is not his to begin with. It is time to decide right now which path you want to take. Satan will say that all paths lead to God, but he is a liar and the truth is not in him. There is one path to God (Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.) and only one way (Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.)
If you follow Satan knowingly, know that he has already fallen. He has no chance in defeating God. He tried to hold Jesus down in the grave but did not have the power to do so. Come on over to the winning side. Once you are on the side of God, you will never be disappointed in Him.

Great Hub bro. Thanks. I would like to only add that not God but Adam gave to Satan authority on the earth.
Nice ,,thanks for sharing,,,
I liked your research and definitions, I also enjoyed the hub itself. So many people think their is more than one path to the "truth" but sadly as you have mentioned here in this hub, the bible is living proof showing us that there is only one way to God and that Satan is "a lion seeking to devour" everyone because he wants to corrupt everyone by diluting the truth and tricking many. Good job!
SirDent a very well written hub on our wicked foe. I know there have been various hubs being written on this subject but your hub is a perfect understanding that when prophets write such as in Ezekiel, at the first part of chapter 28 he is speaking of the literal king of Tyre, but the second half is prophetic and does not pertain to a human being, but speaks of the enemy of our soul. Prophetic writing has a sense of the present and the yet to come. Without that understanding a lot of the prophetic words would be lost in meaning. Another thing I have noticed is that not too many have written on the curse God gave to "satan" the serpent of old. Something to contemplate ... Thank you again for a great hub, keep up the good work.
Sir Dent: I will not judge satan even though he would accuse me. I will simply pray that Jesus judge and treat satan as Jesus feels he deserves.
Sir Dent, Thank You for this compelling and informative hub on the fall of satan! There is much spiritual warfare about us today in this 21st century to undermine the Authority of GOD! It is very important to be aware of satan’s many tactics… As you say “His job is to destroy and he will do all he can to destroy everything.” This is so true! As children of GOD we must spend time meditating on His Word in HIS presence. “To Be STILL & KNOW!” We all MUST develop an ongoing growing spiritual relationship applying His principles in our lives…
The LORD is FAITHFUL and He WILL direct our paths as we obey HIM. As you stated: “We do not have to fear satan…” Instead we must focus on the Lord and TRUST HIM! It is through Jesus Christ we have the VICTORY!
Thank you for sharing, In HIS Love, Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings!
Vote up, beautiful and totally awesome. Sir Dent, you outdid yourself here!! Thanks for this wonderful hub.
SirDent I know I commented before, but I thought you would also like to know a little more about the historical figure the King of Tyre. I mentioned earlier that in Ez. 28 the first half of course is speaking of a human being who is influenced by a diabolical force, the second half is speaking of Satan. However, I forgot to mention the King of Tyre's offspring. Do you know that Jezabel was his daughter? We both know what she did to the prophets of God. Her father was extremely cruel, a murderer, an usurper of the crown, and the epitome of evil indwelling within him. Also, his other dauthter, Jezabel's sister also married the king of Judah and did pretty much the same horrific crimes as her father and sister.
Absolutely Correct!!! The message of the book of Obadiah pretty much is summarized that way, dont with with God and with His peeps.
Sir,
Thanks for a well researched and readable hub! Now that you've described the enemy, we need to be vigilant and watch for him. Thanks again!
Great Hub, my friend. Satan's greatest feat is to convince humans he is not there. If he can do that, he's got half of them licked. Well done!
This is a perfect rendition of typical catholic doctrine. But how does this address that peter was called satan or that capernaum was exalted up to the heavens (luke 10) In revelation we must be reminded that john wrote out of prison and to speak against rome was sedition and punishable by death also john wanted the letter to get out and be read so satan is an excellent metaphor for rome. Cain was the first liar, satan was never a murderer. You present a nice picture but there are many holes in it, but a nice presentation anyway.
Hmmm. I Wonder where you got the idea for this hub from, Sir? LOL! SSSSSS!
Delete away, Sir! I'm sure you know how bad it would make me feel. LOL! Nothing of substance, just wondering if this hub was inspired by the "Who Tempted Satan" thread.
Delete this one too, if you like. It's not as if it makes any difference to me because you will have already read it. Ah, temptation. You have it too? LOL!
it is so true none of us can resist temptations at times,,, even ones who have to make comments about others hubs,,, keep up the writing sirdent,, you are getting the message out there about God
Hey SirDent, thanks for the Hub.
I really got some thoughts on satan and his roll in the fall of man, and his fall from heaven. I would love to talk.
Or if you want to wait till you know some of my views, then check out free download at www.jehubooks.com
Thanks SirDent. I really don't want to throw alot of thoelogical stuff out there, for you seem a well learned man, and a man of character.
Some of what I saw may be speculation also, although I recieved it as revelation. Hold all views loosely is a good motto for us, which is another way of saying take up your cross daily.
Here is the one thought or view to ponder. Most teachings or theological views tend to put alot of revelant trues before the creation of man, or after the end of the world, or sometimes at the crucifition
( which I would like the best) but what if these doctural trues were acually happening as we live, right now as we speak. What if the event of satan being cast out of the heavens is accuring right now? What if Jesus started and secured the purging of the heavens and comissioned us to complete it in His name.
Thanks SirDent, I also saw that you were a carpenter. I also have been self-employed in the contruction field, mostly residentual metal roofs. I enjoyed the work but I'm ready for different things. Trying afew other things now.
Another thought. The comment Jesus made that He saw satan fall from heaven like lightning seemed to be in referance to the acts his diciples had just did (healing the sick and casting out devils) They were acually purging the acusser from reigning over the lives of the people they were ministering to, to which Jesus rejoiced about.Luke 10:17-21
Just got your reply back today, and yes I have and will consider Hub pages. Didn't know you could make some money though. How do I look into that part?
I started several blogs on my site. Although still small yet, its been kinda fun http://www.jehubooks.com/jehu-blog.php
Thanks SirDent, I'll look into that. I'll stay in touch.
When I was in seminary classes, the professor spoke to us of God's attributes. His Ommipotence, His Omnipresence, His Omniscience. Then he paused and said, "The attribute that amazes me the most the more years I am saved is the last and very seldom spoken, his Ommisapience." He then told us of it. It is that attribute whenin all things work to His will, no matter how contrived, how carefully planned, how executed. Every thing that would work against Him will always work to His glory. I agree with the professor. The enemy works and works plans and plans, carefully contrives and everything flies in his face and glorifies his enemy God. It must drive the old lizard absolutely crazy. Maybe that is another reason for his mania and frenzy. Thank you for a great hub. Love you brother, Bob.

I am very pleased with you explanation of Satan falling from heaven. From the explanation that most Christian give on God creating everything and that there is only one God, how do they explain that Satan was in Heaven and that he was cast out? Can you elaborate on that for me.
I have explained this in two of my hubs, the purpose of life, and What does it mean that God knew Jeremiah before he was born.
Keep on hubbing!
