Totter To The Slaughter

Can you tell which are believers?

Introduction

There is a crime being committed each and every day. This crime is not committed by criminals, but is in fact committed by Christians. Estimates show that one hundred and twenty-five thousand, (125,000), people die each day who do not know Jesus. That is over forty-six million, (46,000,000) each year that split hell wide open. Many are destined to go there simply because we refuse to tell them what awaits them after this life is over.

So who are these that totter to the slaughter? They are your neighbors, children, parents, friends and anyone else you might come in contact with. They are everday people just like you and I are. They are homeless people, drug addicts, and alcoholics, workers who work every day, and those who do not work. They are good moral people who have not heeded the gospel of Christ and they are atheists who refuse to believe.

Pro 24:11 If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain; (King James) The Amplified Bible reads the same verse as: Deliver those who are drawn away to death, and those who totter to the slaughter, hold them back [from their doom].

Souls Burning in Hell

Hell

Hell is a subject that has been discussed many times. It is also a subject that is very misunderstood by many. Many believe it will be like a huge party going on with dancing, music, beer and pretzels, etc. . . Singers have sung about it and how it ain't a bad place to be. They have sung about being on a highway to hell.

Some say it isn't real while saying that heaven is real. If heaven is real, then hell is also real. If there is no hell, there is no heaven and there is no God. Those who know God, know that hell is very real. They know that it is a place of constant torment and there is no escape from it once you are there. It is a place of fire and brimstone. The burning is constant and eternal.

Still others say that once you go there, you will only burn up and then be no more. They say you will merely be a distant memory. I have attempted to find, in the Bible, how they come to this conclusion, but have failed to do so. This tells me that they have no real basis and are merely expressing their desires or wants.

Others say that those who go there will come out after they are purified. They say that it is a purifying fire and everyone will come out like pure gold. I have also tried to find this in the Bible and have failed to do so.

It seems so many are blind to the fact that this is a real place of constant torment. The fire that burns in there never ends. Hell is a place to avoid at all costs, created for Satan and his angels while men are trespassers there. All who go there will be tormented at all times, and will never be able to rest from their torment.

We must keep people from going to this dreadful place. The only way to do this is to preach the Word of God and never worry about who it might offend. Jesus spoke the Word constantly. The Word of God was in His mouth at all times. It takes the Word to break the yoke of Satan upon all he has in his snares.

Pro 24:12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?

DARK & EVIL REALMS: WELCOME TO HELL!

What did Jesus Teach about Hell?

Mat 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

Mat 13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

One of the first things Jesus ever taught about hell is that there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Weeping means to cry, be sorrowful, sob. Gnashing of teeth means to show anger or dismay. People in hell will be angry and full of sorrow.

Another thing Jesus taught about hell is that the worm will not die. (Mar 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.) The worm used here means that the desires of a person including any addictions will never cease. For example, a heroine addict will always desire heroine, but will never receive it to put out the fire or desire to have it. Whatever devils a person has while living on the earth will go with them into this dreadful place. The fire is the desires also or the longing they have for what they lust after. An alcoholic will never be able to quench their desire to drink alcohol.

Jesus also taught that hell is "outer darkness." Outer darkness is in a place where God will not be. God is light and there is no light in hell. He also stated that hell was created for Satan and all of his angels. (Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: )

Isaiah says that hell has enlarged herself. (Isa 5:14Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. ) He says the mouth of hell is without measure.

Jesus mentioned the word hell fifteen (15 ) times in the New Testament. Everything He taught was done to keep everyone out of hell. God is a gentleman and will not force anyone to choose the way He prepared.

Jesus taught that being in hell brings torment. The parable of the rich man and Lazarus shows that the man had torment. He also desired a drop of water to be placed on his tongue by Lazarus. Once in hell, there is no escape.

Luk 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Luk 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

The man made a request from hell. After being told that his desire could not be met, he tried to make another request. He simply wanted Lazarus to go back from the dead and warn his brothers of this awful place he is in.

Luk 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

Luk 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Abraham ended this parable with a statement that even if someone came back from the dead and warned them, they would not believe it. Jesus proved this Himself when He was raised from the dead. People still refuse to heed the Word of God Himself.

This parable also shows me something else. When a person enters into hell, they will become believers then. The problem is that it is too late. Once there, escape is impossible. It is the duty of every follower of Jesus to warn all about hell and show them the love that God has for them.

In The End

Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The statement above in Revelation says that they will be "CAST" into the Lake of Fire.

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Isn't it amazing how unbelievers are put in the same category as murderers, liars and theives? It certainly is something for you to think about.

This verse tells us the type of people who will be there. People like Ted Bundy, Adolf Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, Jack The Ripper, etc. . . I wonder how many of my readers would like to hang out with these people for a few minutes, let alone for all eternity. There is a lot more teaching on hell that I could write here, but I think the point is made. The question I ask my readers now is, "Where do you want to spend eternity?"

Cornerstone of Hell

This is a poem I wrote a couple years ago. I have it posted on another hub also about writing poetry. It has a fitting place here for this subject as you will see.

You know of me. . . I am the man

Whom you hate to see when you're asleep.

I come in dreams, I need not bring my clan

I'm the Cornerstone of Hell! where souls weep.

No one can escape from my mighty hand.

My grip is death to all here in my place.

This destiny is not what you planned.

When you come here you will see my face.

I'm the mightiest angel of all.

Smell the fire and all the brimstone.

I was worthy of heaven, standing tall

Stuck in this pit forever. . .not alone.

While I'm here I'll be very livid.

I'll torment and torture all the souls.

Your time here. . . will surely be horrid

Amid the sulfur and flaming coals.

My name is Satan! as you should know.

Fallen from heaven to lie, steal and kill

To destroy those who choose to follow

This angel of light. . . of their own freewill.

Weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth too

As my demons laugh at you and scorn.

You beg for mercy; with your mouth you chew,

On your flesh. . . wishing you were never born.

How to Stay out of Hell

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

There is a lot written in this one verse of scripture. First, it is written that God loves the world. The love God has for the world is unexplainable and cannot really be understood by man.

Secondly, it is written that God gave, Man cannot out-give God. We truly cannot understand why God gave so much to man when we are so sinful and evil. The Bible declares that when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The sins of every man and woman ever bron were forgiven at the cross.

Thirdly, it is written that God gave His only begotten Son. We see things only in part because of our carnal nature. We cannot truly see everything that God sees. God gave the best He has to pay a ransom for everyone.

Fourth, it is written that "Whosoever believes in Him, will not perish. It isn't enough to be forgiven for your sins. It isn't enough for God to give to you or love you unconditionally. You must believe in God's only begotten Son in order to stay out of hell. The only way for one to be made the righteousness of God is to put on the robe of righteousness that can only come  from belief in Jesus Christ.

This is a call to all who do not know Jesus as their Savior. It is a call for you to believe on His name and follow after Him. It is a call to stay out of hell and the Lake of Fire. Come now while time is still here. There is no promise of tomorrow for anyone. People die every day that thought they would live to see more days and even years of life. What waits around the corner no man can know. The only sure thing that we can know is that death will come. It follows us everywhere we go trying to catch up to us. We are reminded of it on a daily basis.

Please Forgive Me by the Crabb Family

Give Your Life to Jesus

Should you decide it is time for you to start following after Jesus, you can pray the prayer below. I assure you that if you truly mean it in your heart, Jesus will come into your life.

Lord, I am a sinner and know that my sins will condemn me. I ask that you take away all my sins and forgive me for them. I ask you to come into my life and create me to be a new creature according to your promise. I gladly accept you to be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus name, Amen.

After Prayer

If you prayed that prayer for the first time in your life, please let me know. At the top of this page on the right side you will see a link that allows emails to be sent to me. Click on it and let me know all about your confession and acceptance of Christ as your Savior.

If you are a backslider and prayed the prayer to rededicate your life to the Lord, I would like to hear from you also. Detaiuls are not necessary. Only God wants you to give Him details. As the woman with the issuee of blood confessed "ALL THE TRUTH," we must also confess it to Jesus.

Well said.

This is a concise reference that is most useful. Jesus spoke more about hell than anyone else in the Bible, in fact, almost everything we know about it we learned from him. If it didn't matter, he would never have mentioned it because he also said that we'd be called to give account on the Day of Judgement for every idle word we utter.

Well done!

Dan, I knew you would visit this hub. I also knew you would make a vulgar attempt to make it look like it is wrong. Better men than you have taken on children of God before. All I have to say to you is this. Do what you stated you want to do and do it. Stay away from my hubs. I will not allow any of your comments to stand because of your attitude.

Thanks for the comment, Quill.

In my mind I see a cliff that stretches as far as the eye can see. It is lined with people who are standing on the very edge. Instead of pulling them away, many push them in. It is a sad thing to see someone die. Imagine how hard it would be to see someone in hell.

I have a son in Chicago on a Mission, and my other son leaves in January to go to Long Beach California on a mission. I myself went to Portugal on a church mission, and beside we are always working with people in our community to come to christ. We need to work hard and invite and all to christ.

Nice hub, even if our religion differs, the thought and concept behind it is important.

Keep on Hubbing!

Dan I can tell you are a man who goes where he is not wanted. I have asked you numerous times to not comment on my hubs, yet you threaten me then back down when called on your threat. I am not asking anymore. I demand you to stay away. If you insist on coming back, I will ask that your account be banned from hubpages.

If you truly are a man, then put up or shut up. Making threats is easy. I want to see you follow through on them, or just stay away.

Even though this is a very grim hub, I am reading it a bit at a time.

Sir Dent,

We do need to tell others about Jesus. It is too easy to yet people pass by and not think about their eternal destiny.

SirDent profile image

SirDent Hub Author 2 years ago

Molly, it is only grim to those who do not know Jesus. Read it to the end and it will help you.

Coffesnob, I agree. This hub is about just that and the why we should tell them.

Hi SirDent,

Whilst I agree that believers have an obligation to preach the gospel in season and out of season, I think we should regard our part in salvation to be slight, mainly because God has stated in Ephesians chapter one:

4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will...

God chose us, predestinated us, before the foundation of the world.

Our job is to reel in those given to Christ and placed upon our lines. Of course we must be diligent in our fishing, but God has already chosen those who He wishes to predestine before the foundation of the world.

But a good hub in any case!

Molly 2 years ago

If It has already been decided who is 'saved', why did Jesus say 'Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel'?

To me,'predestination' is just an excuse for 'lazy' christians to do nothing but look out for themselves.

It would even absolve them from teaching their children or praying for the 'lost'. What would be the point!

I agree with you Molly.

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Yes, brother, yes. You have delivered a powerful, needful message here. Jesus told us to what? GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES! I don't think there is nearly enough of this going on today. Let's get down to it. I am with you.

Thanks for the visit James. We actually don't love like we are commanded to love. Many times it seems as if it doesn't matter to us if someone ends up in hell. I still remeber the dream I had a few months ago.

We are all guilty of the crime of not working as hard as we can for the salvation of souls. We get distracted and singing or Bible analysis or prophecy or something else takes up our total ministry and we are missing the greatest opportunity we have in eternity: to be a fellow laborer with Christ for the salvation of souls. Jesus will wipe away every tear from our eyes. We will cry for those we should have witnessed to. We will cry and God will wipe them all away. But we will cry.

Sir Dent, you spoke about a subject that most churches are avoiding to speak about now days! Let the truth be told:) Hell is a hard thing to preach or talk about because the truth hurts! Once we know the truth, then we have to make a choice and or a committment. Time is getting short, some think they can wait to make a choice a the last gong. Not taking into account if they make a choice for heaven, who else they wish they now had time to share and spare. Spare of the tribulations of this world and of hell. My family read this book 23 minutes in hell. We read it out loud from front to back from the time we got in the car till we got home. It was an eye opener! Thank you for caring enough to share:)
