Introduction

Destination is the end of the journey but the journey is where the memories are made. ~~ SirDent

There are many things we can remember from our past. Good times as well as bad times come to mind. Many times the bad times seem to stand out the most. When we talk with others who go back in time, we generally hear about the tragedies and such things.

Every now and then, a discussion will start and memories of good times will manifest. It could be a family reunion, a basketball game, football game or a baseball game. It could be about school, a bowling league or many other possible activities.

The photos in this article are memories of my past. My mother and father raised 11 children, (6 boys and 5 girls). My maternal grandmother raised 14 children. This is a large family.

The next photos were taken just after a snow storm in 1963. That is my uncle John shoveling snow from around his car. He would have been stranded if not fro a farmer who took him and his wife and kids in. I can't recall exactly where this was taken but it was in Ohio, probably around Columbus or Toledo.

Conclusion

Memories are funny things sometimes. They can make you sad or happy at any given time. They can make you cry and feel joy at the same time. Until there is a working time machine invented, we cannot go back to those times. One thing we can do is reminisce about those times. We can choose to remember the good times or we can choose to remember the bad.

I know these photos are personal to me but I felt like sharing them so that you also can share in my memories.

Sir Dent, these photos are the best kind of photos in my opinion. They are so nostalgic and captured life from long ago. I truly loved what you shared here, a great hub. The older photos took me back in time some, and it encourages me to get some of those types out to keep close track of and document maybe in a scrapbook. Those photos with the dates on the side, have been a great help to me in documenting the older photos. I kind of miss that idea. Now we have cameras that put the date right on the photo itself and many just get rid of that option, as opposed to around the edges. So glad you shared these. :)

This is great, SirDent. I love the look of these old photos. I wrote a hub called The Junkyard, sort of a retelling of some childhood memories and included some old photos there as well. If you have time, you might enjoy it.

Again, great hub, thanks for sharing!

Hi oceansunsets. I am glad you were encouraged by this hub. My dad has gotten into scrap-booking lately and spends a lot of time doing so. Old photos are like old friends. Though man y have passed away in person, their presence is always there in their photos.

Slaps silly. Thanks for the comment silly. I am sure she was tired. When we were all in school, she would get up early and make breakfast for everyone. She didn't use a microwave to do it. Almost always biscuits, eggs and gravy, (all homemade).

Hi lifegate. There are a lot of memories in these photos for me. I can't recall when each was taken or exactly what was going on, but those memories are captured nonetheless. Thanks for the view and comment, it is greatly appreciated.
