Where is the Soul of a Person?

61

By SirDent

The Beginning

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

The soul of a man is the breath of God. Every time a person breathes it is the soul that is actually breathing in and out. Doctors say it is the lungs that breathe, but God's breath is the soul of man.

The soul is also in the heart of man. It pumps the blood throughout the whole body and the bones also have blood vessels running through them. The blood is life, so therefore the soul is also life.

A person's whole being is the soul of that person. It is what makes you who you are and what you do. I have heard many different times that when a person dies, they always exhale. Many say this is the soul being released from the body. It is possibly true. I haven't researched it and can't say for sure.

The soul is what will live forever somewhere. It cannot be destroyed completely except by God Himself. Many different beliefs say that the soul wanders between lives until it decides to be born again. They call it reincarnation. I don't buy that because the soul is life. There are no extra lives.

Some say the soul is non existent. They can believe that all they want. Everyone has a spirit and a soul. The soul is the on thing God told us to possess. He said in His Word, "In your patience, possess ye your soul"

I hope this answers the request. I wrote it in a hurry sort of and only used one scripture straight from the Bible. I paraphrased another and just put my thoughts out there on the subject.

The quote from Genesis is good. What you need is more research. Like where does the word come from. What's the difference between the ancient Greek idea of the soul, and the ancient Jewsish. Christianity as a religion grows up out of the relationship between these two cultures, so it would be an interesting question. Also you don't want to be putting other cultures down so easily since you admit yourself you don't really know the answers. Maybe there's more to reincarnation than you yet know, and how do you know otherwise? Just some simple questions for you to contemplate. But a subject worthy of debate.

CJStone,

I have to disagree with you here.  Whereas Muslims have a right to disagree with Christians on hubs comparing their religion to Christianity, I think SirDent has the right to write this hub purely from his Christian perspective on a simple topic. I wrote a hub a few weeks ago about my beliefs regarding the Bible and several hubbers pointed out I put myself down too much by saying people did not have to agree with me, but honestly I did not even have to say that because that hub was just about my personal perspective.  Whereas it would be good to write a hub about the origin of the word soul or write a comparitive hub on how different religions view the soul, this is not what this hub is about.  Not everything needs to be a debate.  I am really tired of debates to be honest because sometimes a hub is just a simple testament about faith.  If people want to debate they should go debate on the hubs comparing religions.

CJ you may be right about me needing to research. I saw the request for this hub last night and wrote it from my own knowledge and published it before the request was off the hubtivity page. I appreciate your input.

Sweetie I always appreciate your comments and encouragement.

I think it is all up to you Sirdent. I just did not see this hub as being one about research, but more about a statement of personal faith. Although hub such as CJStone was stating would be an interesting thing to write.

SirDent, You did well, you published what your beliefs were in regards to the Soul. You are a true believer that everything we are - spirit, as well as flesh and blood is the creation of God. Speaking from a spiritual perspective, you're right!

I agree with you totally. It is why we cannot sustain on our own when our soul leaves our body. Our body cannot go on without it. Our soul runs the whole business so to speak. Like a battery does in toys and things we listen to music with, ect. Great hub.

The seat of the soul is at the back of the eyes. From here it spreads throughout the body and animates the body. It is controlled by the Word or what is called the "Sound Current" in some eastern terminology. It is an internal sound or vibration which leads the soul back to God of one is fortunate enough to meet someone to connect your soul to this current. The Word is not a printed thing, but a living, conscious stream that both creates the creation but also leads one back to God from where it emanated. Seek someone who can connect you to this current.

Everyman, you sound like you are New Age. The Word is alive, but it is also written down.

Let's assume you are correct about connecting to the current. Who can connect anyone to it? There is only one who is able to reconcile man back to God from whence we came. His name is Jesus.

Any other way is false, and anyone who goes another way is a theif and a liar.

Hi Everyman!

I honestly believe that you are looking at things from the wrong perspective (Earthly instead of spiritually). That part of the brain may be the seat of the soul but I believe the only way to connect with it is from the other end; The Spirit. When you accept God fully into your life, that path will be unblocked and you will no longer be concerned with where the seat of the soul is, you will be concerned with how to cooperate with God to return EveryOne to true love and peace. You must quit trying to understand everything with your own reason, and instead lean unto the lord for direction. Seek ye first the kingdom and all these things will be added unto you
